Breakfast Club!

Trainees at our new Weymouth centre have been making use of their new kitchen facilities by starting a Breakfast Club.  The first menu consisted of bacon, sausages, and rolls.

The idea came from their suggestion box to get them up on time, improve teamwork, confidence, budgeting, and planning.  They will now be running this once per week for Trainees, staff, and other learners.  They have devised a budgeting, shopping, cooking, and cleaning rota between them.

Traineeship Support Officer, Grant, said, “What a great effort from all involved – it was great to see them working as a team and building their life skills.”

Traineeship Tutor, Tony, agreed and said, “I was amazed!  1, They all turned up on time and 2, they all worked together as a team to complete the task.  There are so many benefits for this such as attendance, making sure they have some form of breakfast before work and getting to know each other better.”

The Trainees all completed a Food Safety course in advance of the session, which is another certificate to add to their growing portfolio alongside Maths and English, Digital Skills and Employability.

Rylee, a Trainee on the programme, said, “This project has helped me to grow and hone my budgeting skills, as well as my teamwork and planning skills.”
