In a word, no!
Often when we receive queries about our funded training courses, it’s along the lines of “are they really free?” or “is there a catch?”
Here are some answers to frequently answered questions:
Where does the funding come from?
We’re able to offer funded training via contracts we work on which are funded by different sources, the majority being from the European Social Fund. We work with various different contractors and councils according to the Contract.
Who is Eligible?
In short, this varies according to the contract. Our Skills Support for the Workforce training courses are for people already working and our Skills Support for the Unemployed courses are for those who are looking for work/ economically inactive. During Lockdown we’ve been able to extend the geographical areas we can offer courses in but these will be tightened again in the coming weeks. You need to be 16 or over to enrol on a course with us.
Are the courses accredited?
The majority of the courses we offer are accredited and we are an approved centre by by City&Guilds, NCFE and Agored Cymru.
Is there a lot of paperwork?
There is some paperwork we need you to fill in to prove your eligibility – again this has been streamlined during lockdown so that you can do most of it digitally. We are also required by our funders to provide evidence of progress reviews – we have streamlined this process as much as possible and it becomes a natural part of your course.
Do the courses compare competitively with others on the market?
Our courses are all taught by experienced tutors who have been approved by our awarding body to deliver the qualifications. We update and revise the content of our courses regularly to make sure it stays relevant. As our courses are accredited they are the same as those generally available elsewhere via colleges or other training providers but without the cost.
