Whitehead-Ross Education and Consulting was excited to deliver the Funky Dragon Active Citizenship Training in partnership with Neath Port Talbot Youth Service.
Funky Dragon is the children and young people’s assembly for Wales. Its mission is to enable children and young people in Wales to get their voices heard by government and others who make decisions about policies and services that affect their lives.
We delivered the Funky Dragon Active Citizenship Training via a 2 day residential at PGL’s Tregoyd House near Brecon, catering for 20 young people, aged 16-18, who are NEET. Located at the foot of the Black Mountains approximately one hour from Neath, PGL’s Tregoyd House is an imposing mansion. The centre offers an excellent combination of watersports and land-based activities in beautiful surroundings.
The Funky Dragon Active Citizenship Training was complemented by PGL instructor-led activities from a wide choice of: Abseiling, Archery, Canoeing, Challenge Course, Climbing, Eco Trail, Fencing, First Aid, History Trail, Initiative Exercises, Jacob’s Ladder, Kayaking, Motorsports, Raft Building, Rifle Shooting, Sensory Trail, Trapeze, and Zip Wire.
Gaining recognition for a range of personal achievement benefits young people. Recognising young people’s achievements helps to increase self-esteem, improve motivation and keep young people engaged in learning. We supported all 20 young people to complete the training in order to receive the Agored Cymru Accreditation.
